WEEK #32 - Dogs with Diapers

Good morning, evening, and night!

The week was cool!

On Tuesday, I was able to give my first District Meeting! Every Tuesday, a small amount of missionaries within a specific area meet together. We discuss the needs of those that we teach, and I lead a training to help the needs of my fellow missionaries!!

Also, every transfer (around 1.5 months), there is a specific focus on a Christ-like attribute. We all take the time to focus on that attribute and do our best to become like Christ! The attribute for this transfer is knowledge. In the bible dictionary, knowledge is "an attribute from God." Knowledge is not simply having the ability to know something, but applying that knowledge into our life. It is obtained piece by piece, little by little. If that is the case, then we must teach our wonderful knowledge of the restored gospel by the same pattern!!

My father gave a great analogy. Has everyone heard of sam's club? It is basically a store that sells everything in bulk or large amounts. But, they have samples for specific things so you can decide if you would like to buy the item. This is like sharing the gospel. We must share the gospel, little by little. Once others can have a taste of this wonderful message, they can use their agency (or free will) to accept it or not.

Elder Rasband, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, has said: "The more you know Him, the more you will love Him, and the more you will want to serve Him."

As our knowledge grows in the Savior, we will develop a greater love for Him and His gospel. This love will motivate us to serve Him forever!!

On Thursday we were able to teach one of our investigators, Chrisma, about the Word of Wisdom. For Malaysia particularly, there is a certain fruit here that is addictive and can become just as bad as tobacco. It is called buah pinang. A lot of people in Malaysia are sadly addicted to it, and have had troubles overcoming their addiction. We had brought a member to give some fellowship to Chrisma. We found out Chrisma was struggling with eating buah pinang. Turns out, that was the exact problem that the member (Sister Khaty) struggled with before joining the church. She was able to bare powerful testimony of how Heavenly Father helped her overcome her addiction, and that Chrisma can do the same thing!! There is a special connection when members of the church combine efforts with missionaries to bring people unto Christ. For all of those that are members, I encourage you to set aside some time this week and participate in a lesson with the missionaries!!!

i can't even explain

On Friday we had zone conference! That is where missionaries in the whole zone gather together to receive training from the mission president and leaders. Me and my companion Elder Curtis got to put on a show for the fellow missionaries!! I got to be the interviewer, while Elder Curtis acted as Ammon. Ammon is a famous leader in the Book of Mormon. He helped to serve King Lamoni and establish the church among the Laminates! I wish I could've got a picture of it :) We also had interviews with President, and District Conference as well!

Funny story: As a kid, my mother liked to be my personal nurse. If anything went wrong, she was on it. Every now and again, I would get a cut or something like that. She normally put some time of ointment on, and then the next day, I would wake up to have a rash on that section she put the ointment on. She later claimed that my body would have a party every time I put ointment on, because EVERY TIME there was a rash. So fast forward to yesterday. I opened a drawer to see inside a bottle of melaleuca oil.  Seeing that I had melaleuca oil in my favorite renew lotion, I decided to put some on my arms. The bottle was empty. So I decided to open it and dab the rest on my arms and face. It said that the oil would clean my skin naturally. Then it was time for bed. Then I slept. Then I woke up. What do I wake up to? RASHES. When I called the mission nurse and explained to her the situation, she said it was a 2nd degree chemical burn. I guess I can upgrade it from a rash to a rash + a burn. Now I look like a raccoon with red stripes :)

That was basically my week! Can or not? :) Next week I will be sending a "Day as a Missionary" to help you understand basically what I do each day! Love you all!!

Love, Elder McKayd LaRose
