Today has been a good week!
After emailing last week we got to play some badminton! It was tons of fun. The three most popular sports here are badminton, soccer (called futsal), and cakrew, which is volleyball but you can only play with your feet!

On tuesday me and Elder Haslam had some fun. I am in charge of the English Class in my area, and we were wanting to do some advertising. We went to the nearest stop light, and handed out flyers to anyone that wanted to come learn! We brought a sign too, and this is how we managed to store it. Creative, I know. (see picture below)

A recent concern from my family has been brought to my attention. They have acknowledged that I am loosing a lot of weight and getting really skinny. As requested from my family, I have put more thought and time into my meal choices. I decided to take a picture of my masterpiece.
We had exchanges on Wednesday! If an exchange occurs, it means that you change companions with another set of missionaries. This is a way for the district leader to provide feedback in their area, and receive some training. I got to go on exchanges with my companion in the MTC! It was so nice having the MTC power back with us again :) Here is us at the only american restaurant haha.
Later that night on exchanges, Elder Bowler and I were teaching one of their investigators. Her husband was recently reactivated (meaning he started coming to church again) and was wanting the missionaries to teach his wife. She is really prepared. She is really shy and only likes speaking in Iban, so her husband has to translate into Malay. He told us of her experience. She was waiting in the hospital for a relative. She was really tired and closed her eyes. She then had a really cool dream. She had a dream that all around her was darkness. There was an angel that beckoned her to follow him. He brought her to 3 paths. One was very bright, the other one was dim, and the third path was dark. He asked which path she wanted to take, and she chose the brightest one. The angel told her that she had made the right choice and should continue on the brightest path. When her husband heard the story, he was overcome by the Spirit. He told her of Lehi's vision in the Book of Mormon, and how it was very similar to hers. In Lehi's dream there was an iron rod that lead to the tree of life. In the distance there was a dark path that led to a dark building that represented the sin and temptation of the world. The tree of life represents the Love of God, and the iron rod is the word of God! The path to the Tree of Life is the brightest path. If you want more of an explanation, read my email in the MTC or read chapter 8 of 1 Nephi in the Book of Mormon. This was a wonderful answer from Heavenly Father that she was making the right decision to read from the Book of Mormon and deepen her faith in God.
Also on exchanges, Elder Bowler and I taught the Word of Wisdom. The Word of Wisdom outlines 5 things that we as members of the church are counselled not to partake of: Alcohol, cigarettes, illegal drugs, coffee, and tea. God has created our bodies, and he desires that we treat them with respect. Any thing harmful or addictive is dangerous! When we subject ourselves to these substances, it is hard to feel guidance and direction from the Spirit. We must stay worthy and healthy so that God can give us all his desired blessings. After teaching a powerful lesson about Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon, he accepted to give us all his coffee and tea in his house! We called it the "Word of Wisdom bust" haha.
On Friday Morning we woke up to a dog in our front porch...again. The landlord had basically made our fence more like a military base border. It was all medal and it was 8 feet high haha. Somehow the dog managed to get in (we were thinking the gate might've been open). He tore apart a previous Elder's shoes and was about to get my shoes again. There is only a little hole, but good enough to give me a scare!
This Sunday was fast Sunday!! It is always a humbling experience. It gives each of us a chance to give up the very thing we need to live, in honour of Jesus Christ's sacrifice. It gives greater strength to our prayers, and greater power to our righteous wants and needs.
Hope everyone's week was great!! See you next week!
Love you all!!
