This week was just outstanding!! I really love the MTC, and simply feel God's presence here all the time! It truly is a special place.
The week began with an interesting start! I was flossing my bottom teeth (like a good boy) with the weird floss for the permanent retainer. my floss got stuck in the bar of my permanent retainer and I went to take it off, but half of my retainer popped off!! I had to call my branch president (an adult who presides and leads a specific group of elders) who happened to be a dentist. He told me to just rip it off and wait to get a new one...so I did! It was a heroic night! So I now have a top and bottom removable retainer :) We got to leave the MTC for a little bit, so if anyone is wondering what the world is like outside of the MTC, here is a pic!
I know I know, doesn't the outside world look SO COOL?? Just kidding ;)
We taught our investigator Kristina this week! She had her father die, so we felt strongly about teaching her the Plan of Salvation (God's plan for us). Have you ever wondered where you were before you came to earth, what the purpose of this life is, or what is going to happen to us when we die? I am sure most of you have had these questions. I am so grateful to know that the scriptures teach that we lived with God before we came to earth! How cool is that? There is a purpose for this life. God wants us to me more than just good people. When we learn and live the gospel of Jesus Christ, we will be happier than we ever have or will be without it! I know that we will live with God again after we die! Every single person will live again, good or bad!
1 Corinthians 15 verse 22 states, "For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive."
We reassured Kristina that she WILL see her father again if she chooses to follow Jesus Christ and live His gospel! I know of no greater thought: We can live with our families forever! It brings hope to hardships, and trust during trials. I am so grateful for my siblings and family! We are not the perfect family by any means, but we have an eternity to get there! :)
The gospel topic for sunday was Baptism and Receiving the Gift of the Holy Ghost! When we are baptized, it has to be with the right authority. If we have faith and believe in Jesus Christ, we can be cleansed from our sins! This makes us able to live with God again like I mentioned previously!
In the Book of Mormon on page 120, we read in Jacob chapter 2 verse 18: "But before ye seek for riches, seek ye for the kingdom of God." Later in the Book of Mormon, the Savior adds one word to this verse that changes it entirely! He says, "But seek ye first the kingdom of God..." (3 Nephi 13: 33, pg. 435)
See the crucial word? FIRST! What do you put first in your life?
Heavenly Father is so merciful to us! We offer Him a life of mistakes and sins, and He offers us a new and cleansed life after we are baptized.
After we are baptized, we are given the gift of the Holy Ghost! The Holy Ghost (or Holy Spirit) is a personage of Spirit, and has been sent by God and Jesus Christ to help us do good and make right choices. When you gave service to someone, how did you feel? When you read from the scriptures, what did you feel? When I do good things, I feel good! Simple, right? Those good feelings come from the Holy Ghost, and He confirms to me that what I am doing is right.
Feeling the Holy Ghost is different from receiving the Gift of the Holy Ghost. When we receive Him, we are promised that He is our constant companion! The Holy Ghost will guide us in all walks of life, giving us inspiration and power to choose the right! It is one of the most sacred gifts Heavenly Father has given us, and can only be received through the proper authority (known as the Priesthood) from God. Let me know if that didn't make sense, I'd love to explain it to you!
This week we got to be tour guides for the MTC! The MTC is holding an open house for the entire campus, so we directed people where to go, and helped them have a good experience! Check out the new learning and instruction rooms!!
They also took a picture of all the missionaries at the MTC, and I found myself!!
We had Sister Jean B. Bingham, the General Relief Society President speak on Tuesday! I liked the quote: "Knowing who you are changes what you do." We are children of God! He knows us perfectly. I encourage us all to change what is wrong in our lives, and choose the right!!
Love you all, jumpa lagi bagi kemudian hari Jumaat!! ( see ya later until next Friday!!)
